While cloud computing uses centralized servers to provide various services, dew computing uses on-premises computers to provide decentralized, cloud-friendly, and collaborative micro services to end-users. Dew computing is an on-premises computer software-hardware organization paradigm in the cloud computing environment, which is complementary to cloud computing. The key features of dew computing are that on-premises computers provide functionality independent of cloud services and they also collaborate with cloud services.

Dew computing has just gone through its emerging stage. A few research groups contributed to dew computing from different angles. As an emerging and fast-growing research area, it is necessary to bring researchers in this area together to exchange research progress and to envision the path ahead. The 1st International Workshop on Dew Computing (DEWCOM 2016) is the first-ever conference in this area, and it will shape the future of Dew Computing.

Sponsors

School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences, University of Prince Edward Island, Canada

IEEE Canadian Atlantic Section

Date and Time

July 7, 2016, 8:30am – 5:30pm; July 8, 2016, 8:30am – 12:00pm.

Location

Don and Marion McDougall Hall (Building No: 12), Room 329

University of Prince Edward Island

550 University Avenue, Charlottetown

Prince Edward Island, Canada

Campus Map

Steering Committee (Vision & Future Organization)

Dr. Yi Pan, Georgia State University, USA (Chair)

Dr. Yingwei Wang, University of Prince Edward Island, Canada

Dr. Karolj Skala, Ruđer Bošković Institute, Croatia

Dr. Andy Rindos, IBM Emerging Technology Institute (Cloud), USA

Program Committee (Dew Computing Special Issue Review)

Dr. Yingwei Wang, University of Prince Edward Island, Canada (Chair)

Dr. Karolj Skala, Ruđer Bošković Institute, Croatia

Dr. Yi Pan, Georgia State University, USA

Dr. Jinghua Groppe, RonPub (Research Online Publishing), Germany

Dr. Chrysanne Dimarco, University of Waterloo, Canada

Dr. Dana Petcu, West University of Timisoara, Romania

Dr. Andy Rindos, IBM Emerging Technology Institute (Cloud), USA

Dr. Alisha Malloy, North Carolina Central University, USA

Dr. Bernard Chen, University of Central Arkansas, USA

Dr. Feng Gu, The City University of New York, USA

Dr. Wei Zhong, University of South Carolina Upstate, USA

Dr. Shuhui Yang, Purdue University Northwest, USA

Dr. Yuri Gordienko, National Technical University of Ukraine, Ukraine

Dr. Marjan Gushev, Ss.
